What you can do in this project:

  • Learn about selecting & handling poultry
  • Identify poultry breeds & body parts
  • Learn about health issues & feeding, keep records, market poultry
  • Exhibit poultry at County Fair

Grades: 3-13

Cost: Varies depending on breeds purchased

Equipment Needed: Housing, feeders, & waterers


All meetings take place from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Pavilion North at the Fairgrounds unless otherwise noted.

  • Saturday, December 9, 2017- Let’s Get Started: Intro to Poultry
  • Saturday, February 3, 2018 – Housing, Care and Feeding
  • Saturday, April 7, 2018 – Parts of Poultry & Terms, Quizbowl
  • Saturday, June 23, 2018 – Showing Poultry, Possible Speaker/Egg Drop Project
  • Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM (Work Time) at the Fairgrounds- Set Up
  • Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 8:00 PM -completed at the Fairgrounds- Clean Up

Achievement Guidelines:

  • Fifty percent attendance at Poultry Project Meetings
  • Maintain Record Books
  • Exhibit Poultry at County Fair, including Showmanship
  • Meet local Club requirements
  • Record books signed by County Project Leaders
  • Be responsible for the care of your birds at Fair
